Ordering the iPhone Online on June 29th
There has been a lot of speculation about how and when online ordering for the iPhone would take place. At this point and time, weighing all of the available information, it seems to me that online orders will begin on Friday, June 29th, at the Apple Online Store at 6:00pm Pacific Time.
There have been multiple sources that said only Apple will handle online orders initially, and I have not seen anything to dispute that. I have also seen multiple sources of information say that Apple will take orders on the 29th of June. The one last piece of the puzzle is how they would roll it out. Would it be by time zone? Would they use ip-geotargeting? Well over on EverythingiPhone, someone had a discussion with an online Apple Rep who specifically said that Apple would begin selling the iPhone online, at 6:00pm Pacific. This makes the most sense. There is no need to roll out online orders. Just go with the last time zone and be done with it.
Since online ordering is my fallback plan for not waiting in line, this works out well for me. I am in the central time zone, so this gives me two hours to try and get an iPhone before I just go home and order it online and wait for it to show up.
So best case:
Apple iPhone Online Ordering
Online Apple Store
Available June 29th, at 6:00pm Pacific Time
